Orofacial Myology Therapy
Our Orofacial Myology services help children and adolescents develop healthy breathing, chewing, swallowing, and oral muscle function to support speech, feeding, sleep, and dental development. At Eat Speak Play, our Speech Pathologists provide evidence-based orofacial myofunctional therapy for children experiencing mouth breathing, tongue thrust, incorrect tongue posture, prolonged dummy use, thumb sucking, drooling, or difficulties with chewing and swallowing.
Every therapy program is tailored to your child's individual needs and focuses on improving the coordination and strength of the lips, tongue, cheeks, and jaw through engaging, functional activities. We work collaboratively with families and, where appropriate, alongside dentists, orthodontists, ENTs, sleep physicians, and other health professionals to achieve the best outcomes. Our goal is to help children develop efficient oral function that supports eating, speech, breathing, sleep quality, and healthy facial growth.
How do I know if my child would benefit from this?
Does your child breathe through their mouth instead of their nose during the day or while sleeping?
Do they sleep with their mouth open, snore, or have restless sleep?
Does your child struggle to keep their lips together when resting?
Have you noticed your child pushing their tongue forward when swallowing or speaking?
Does they drool more than expected for their age?
Does your child have difficulty chewing food or take a long time to finish meals?
Does food often fall out of your child's mouth or become trapped in their cheeks while eating?
Has your dentist or orthodontist identified concerns with your child's tongue posture, bite, jaw development, or facial growth?
Does your child have persistent speech sound difficulties that may be related to tongue or oral muscle function?
Has your child had prolonged thumb sucking, dummy use, nail biting, or other oral habits that may be affecting their oral development?
