We value your understanding in providing adequate notice to accommodate other families who may need support.

Attendance and Continuity of Care Policy

At Eat Speak Play, we understand that life can be unpredictable and sometimes plans change. To ensure that all families have consistent access to therapy, we have established the following guidelines to help manage attendance.

To keep your child's therapy time secure, it’s important to attend sessions regularly. If your child misses two consecutive sessions with or without notice, we will support you in rescheduling your second consecutive cancellation to achieve continuity of care. If you are unable to commit to the alternatives we may need to offer the therapy slot to another family.

When enrolling in a therapy program for the term, please be aware that the commitment is for a 12-week period and an 80% attendance rate is required. If you are unable to commit to the alternatives provided to achieve this, your child’s session may be released.

Please see below to read more about our session alternative options.

Ceasing Services

If you need to cease services prior to discharge, we kindly ask that you provide a minimum of two weeks’ notice. This allows us to plan for your child’s transition, prepare discharge paperwork and offer the therapy slot to another family who may be waiting.

Your understanding helps us provide consistent and quality care to all the families we support and fairly provide support to families waiting for services.

Sickness and Symptoms Policy

To maintain a safe environment, we follow a traffic light system to guide families on whether to attend in person:

Green Light:

Mild, non-contagious symptoms such as occasional sniffles or a mild cough (not linked to illness).

Red Light:

Symptoms indicating a potential contagious illness within the last 24 hours, including:

Runny nose, Conjunctivitis, Fever, Persistent cough, Vomiting or diarrhea, Body aches or chills.

Please Note: If attending the clinic isn’t suitable, we offer alternative services, including telehealth, to maintain your child’s progress from home.

Indirect Services Policy

At Eat Speak Play, we are committed to providing holistic support, which extends beyond direct therapy sessions to include essential indirect services.

What Are Indirect Services?
Indirect services include activities such as:

  • Preparing tailored resources and visuals

  • Developing social stories or sensory plans

  • Writing progress reports and letters

  • Coordinating with educators and other professionals

  • Analysing assessment data and progress tracking

  • Clinical emails offering strategies or professional insights

Why Are Indirect Services Important?

These behind-the-scenes tasks are crucial for delivering well-rounded, personalised care. By investing time in planning and preparation, we ensure that therapy aligns with your child's unique goals and the community that supports them.

Billing for Indirect Services

Some indirect services may incur charges, calculated based on the time and complexity of the task. We will always inform you of any associated costs beforehand.

Alternatives to Support Your Family When Plans Change

To support continuity of care, we offer several flexible options if you are unable to attend a scheduled session:

Rescheduling

If you’re unable to attend your original appointment, we’re happy to help you reschedule. Just let us know in advance, and we can arrange to move your session to another time or day that suits you better.

Case Meetings

At Eat Speak Play, we understand that collaboration is key to supporting your child's progress. Our case meetings provide a structured opportunity to bring together everyone involved in your child’s care, ensuring goals and strategies remain aligned and effective.

Teletherapy

At Eat Speak Play, our teletherapy services provide a flexible and convenient way for your child to continue therapy from the comfort of your home. Many families may think that their child needs specific skills to actively participate via Zoom, but this is not the case. Just as clinic-based sessions are tailored to accommodate your child’s strengths and needs, telehealth sessions are equally adaptable, making them just as effective.

Resources

At Eat Speak Play, we know that consistent practice between sessions is key to achieving therapy goals. To support your child’s progress at home, we offer personalised resource packs designed to make learning fun and effective.

Parent Coaching

Parent coaching at Eat Speak Play is a supportive and practical way for families to become actively involved in their child’s therapy journey. This approach allows therapists to see how children and parents interact together in their natural environments, address specific challenges within the home (like feeding), and develop practical strategies.
